Care journey
Mr. William's Story.
Mr. William did not have any symptoms. He simply had a habit of getting a medical check-up every year. It was through that habit that his aortic aneurysm was detected, which eventually led him to surgery at Heartology. In this video, he shares his experience with the medical team.
Detected Through a Routine Check-Up
“Actually I had no complaints, I just happen to have medical check-ups often,” Mr. William says. An aortic aneurysm is a widening of the wall of the aorta, the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body. At his check-up a year earlier, the condition was already visible, but at that time it was not considered worrying.
At his next medical check-up, the doctor had different news. The widening of his aorta was now considered to need treatment. “He said it had reached the stage where it had to be operated on soon,” he recalls. Mr. William then decided to have surgery at Heartology.
A Thorough Examination at Heartology
At Heartology, Mr. William was examined thoroughly, including cardiac catheterization. Catheterization is an examination using a thin tube inserted through a blood vessel to look at the condition of the heart's blood vessels. The examination also found a blockage. The medical team then treated the blockage during the same operation, so Mr. William did not need two separate operations.
His operation was handled by the Heartology cardiothoracic and vascular surgery team. For Mr. William, the way the team explained each step meant a great deal. “In my opinion they were very communicative, and they explained things well,” he says. He felt the medical team always gave patients room to communicate and ask about anything related to how they were feeling, and he was satisfied with the answers he received.
Going Through Care with Peace of Mind
During his stay at Heartology, Mr. William felt he was able to go through every stage of his care well. He was grateful to have a medical team that, in his words, was very united and communicative. The service he received, the way the doctors communicated, and the team's satisfying explanations were the reasons Mr. William chose to have his surgery at Heartology. At the end of the video, he again expressed his satisfaction with the medical team's answers and thanked everyone who had cared for him.
Mr. William's story shows the value of regular health check-ups, especially for conditions that do not always cause symptoms. Results monitored from year to year help doctors judge when treatment is needed. If you have risk factors for heart and blood vessel disease, discuss a suitable check-up schedule with your doctor.
