Dr. dr. Dudy Arman Hanafy, Sp.BTKV, Subsp. JD(K), MARS, FISA, FIATCVS

Dr. dr. Dudy Arman Hanafy, Sp.BTKV(K)-D trained and worked in thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgery at Universitätsklinikum Münster, Germany, for almost ten years. Since 2005 Dr. Dudy has been a member of the adult cardiac surgery medical staff at the National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita, Jakarta, and served as Head of the Adult Cardiac Surgery Department there from 2012 to 2016. Since 2006 Dr. Dudy has also been a lecturer in the Department of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia.

In professional organizations, Dr. Dudy served as Secretary General of the Indonesian Association of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgeons (2014 to 2017) and Secretary General of the Indonesian College of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery (2017 to 2021). Since 2017 Dr. Dudy has chaired the National Cardiovascular Surgery Network Sub-Team, and since 2021 the Organ Transplantation Standards Drafting Team at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Dr. Dudy now practices as a consultant thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgeon at Heartology Cardiovascular Hospital.

Dr. dr. Dudy Arman Hanafy, Sp.BTKV(K)-D, MARS, FISA, FIATCVS, is a consultant thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgeon at Heartology Cardiovascular Hospital, Jakarta. Dr. Dudy completed medical school at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Diponegoro, Semarang (1995), and specialist training in thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgery at Universitätsklinikum Münster, Germany (2004), where Dr. Dudy trained and worked for almost ten years. After specialist equivalency at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (2005), Dr. Dudy earned a Master of Hospital Administration from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Indonesia (2014) and a doctorate from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (2016).

Dr. Dudy's clinical focus is minimally invasive cardiac surgery (MICS), for both heart valve repair and valve replacement, and minimally invasive coronary bypass surgery. Dr. Dudy performs minimally invasive direct coronary artery bypass (MIDCAB) and off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB), a bypass operation that treats blocked coronary arteries without the heart-lung machine, so the heart keeps beating during surgery. Dr. Dudy trained in mitral valve repair and minimally invasive mitral surgery in Lyon, France, and in basic endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) in Thailand.

In Germany, Dr. Dudy trained in a setting where heart transplantation and left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation were routine treatments for advanced heart failure. Dr. Dudy has contributed to the development of heart transplant services in Indonesia, has performed LVAD implantation, and since 2021 has chaired the Organ Transplantation Standards Drafting Team at the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.

Dr. Dudy also teaches in the Department of Thoracic, Cardiac, and Vascular Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, has written scientific publications and books on cardiac surgery, and speaks at national and international scientific forums. At Heartology, Dr. Dudy is part of the Advanced Cardiovascular Surgical Care team, working with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and other multidisciplinary staff from diagnosis and surgery through post-operative care.
